London 7/7 – A Play by Michael Dawson

At its heart, London 7/7 explores a single encounter between two people whose lives collide with devastating purpose: one intent on taking their own life, the other intent on taking the lives of others. What unfolds is not just a clash of intentions, but a clash of cultures, faiths, and humanity itself.

Written almost twenty years ago, London 7/7 was created during a time when the world was trying to make sense of violence and loss, when headlines from Gaza told us that 300 children killed was considered a lot. I could never have imagined that, all these years later, the same places, the same grief, and the same impossible questions would still echo so loudly.

Though the story was inspired by the Manchester bombings, its message has only grown more relevant with time. It reminds us how easily lives intersect in moments of despair and conviction, and how fragile the line is between victim and perpetrator, between humanity and hate.

Originally performed live as part of the Chorlton Arts Festival and broadcast on their radio station, this production features stunning performances by Karl Seth and Susan Loudon.

Re-edited and reproduced for today, London 7/7 stands as a reflection on how much has changed, and how much, heartbreakingly, has not.
